Sex Therapy and Relationships
Some sexual difficulties are physical in nature, others psychological and yet others have a strong spiritual component, so it is not surprising that this is a complex issue to resolve on your own. It is a highly specialised and sensitive area that can involve not only counselling but also intervention by a skilled General Practitioner (GP).
So, in regard to sexual counselling we need to be aware of the complexities of the issues at hand - issues of the relationship, anger and self-esteem and the person or persons involved as well as the desired outcomes.
Hi, I'm Morgan Hayward
You need to be qualified in this field of work. I completed my Bachelor of Social Science with membership to the prestigious Golden Key International Honour Society and have an Advanced Diploma of Applied Social Science providing giving me a theoretical and practical education in social sciences with a focus on counselling. I also hold a certificate in Training and Assessment which I found helpful with psycho-educational issues around sexual functioning.
I completed an internship at Impotence Australia where I gained further practical skills to help men and their partners - that's right - I help women as well - in sexual health, relationship, self-esteem and personal development issues. This includes counselling for hetrosexual couples, gay and lesbian relationship counselling and gender counselling. I am a clinical member of the Australian Counselling Association and a professional member of ASSERT (Australian Society of Sex Educators and Researcher Therapists).
I have written for WellBeing magazine about impotence and have presented on sex and relationship issues at professional agencies and peer supervision groups. To download the article I wrote for Well Being magazine which has been read hundreds of times on-line, click here. I have tutored at University on Drug and Process Addictions and I am teacher in Special Communications, Community and Welfare studies. I have developed men's sexual health awareness talks for local council health professionals and have been involved in the delivery of workshops on men's sexual health issues to psychologists, occupational therapists, counsellors, general practitioners and other health-care professionals. I am currently the NSW State Co-ordinator for Impotence Australia.
Over the past few years I have been investigating the effect of occupational stress on intimate relationships. This area of study is particularly interesting as importance as stress can both effect sexual dysfunction, anger and self-esteem.
Several years ago I established the first anxiety support group in the Hawkesbury region in Western Sydney and I am a current member of the Mental Health Association of NSW. My interest in sexual health includes:
