How can the
counselling process help?
This depends on the issue. There is a general
process that is followed:
1. Background
information is collected
2. Identification of
core issues is determined
3. Case formulation is
carried out
4. Goal setting that
meets the therapeutic processes and needs are
established
5. A formulated
intervention is implemented
6. Evaluation of
intervention is carried out
7. Closure is
achieved.
The counselling
process focuses predominantly on a person centred
approach allowing a problem management and opportunity
development approach to helping. Other modalities
may be considered in this process and include:
-
NLP
-
Gestalt
-
Existentialism
-
Phenomonology
-
Transactional
Analysis
-
Social
Constructivism
